What the execution data shows

  • #1 was textbook, and my own note says it: everything aligned, with Bookmap, time and sales, and cumulative delta all pointing down. It took 23.5 of a 35.5-point move (66%) on only 6.5 points of heat. Price went on to 30,027.5, a full 50 points from my entry.
  • #2 made the most money but was the riskier trade. The fill data shows the first short at 30,009.50, and the average ended at 30,031.08 across 3 lots per account. That means contracts were added roughly 30 to 40 points higher, as price ran against the position up to 30,052.50.
  • It worked: the exit at 30,011.50 captured 83% of the move from the average entry. But adding to a short that’s moving against me, on 6 lots, is the same shape as my two biggest losses in the log: −$3,825 on August 6 and −$2,569 on September 2.

Takeaway

#1 is the model trade: aligned signals, small heat, held for a real move. #2 paid well, but it paid because the market came back. Next time a short goes 40 points against the first fill, treat it as a stop, not a better price to add.
