Which stocks do the swing scans start from?

Every stock scan starts from the same universe: mid cap and larger (over $2B), price over $20, average volume over 1M shares, optionable, institutional ownership over 30% and an average true range over $1. SW7 swaps in large caps (over $10B), US only, dividend payers with a P/E under 30 and beta under 1.5. SW8 runs on the ETF screener.

What is the framework behind the chart grades?

Four checks decide the grade: the EMA 20/50 cross (direction and age), the Vegas Channel (EMA 144/169: which side price is on, in ATRs), the Fibonacci retracement of the last swing leg (the 0.382 to 0.618 entry zone) and the yearly VWAP anchored on 1 January with its bands. The moving-average stack, stretch from the 21 EMA, stochastic, RSI and ADX add confluence.

What do the A, B and C grades mean?

A: the chart agrees with the scan on every required check for its strategy (trend, cross, the right side of the Vegas Channel, the entry zone) with enough confluence. B: most of it, but one check is missing or the setup is not in the zone yet. C: the chart argues against the scan. Earnings within 14 days or a gap of 3 ATR or more in the last 15 bars caps a name at B.

What does the chart-read score mean?

The confluence points behind the grade. Each strategy has its own rules and thresholds (pullbacks, breakouts, snapbacks, fade watch and wheel are scored differently), so compare scores within one scan, not across scans.

What do added, carried and dropped mean?

Added names are new on the scan since the previous scan day; carried names were already on it; dropped names were on the previous list and are not on this one, shown dimmed with their numbers from the previous day. A drop is information: on SW2, for example, a fresh 52-week high leaves the 0 to 10% below the high filter.

When are Scott's Swing Levels published?

The scans run at 17:30 ET, Monday to Friday, after the close, and the page is published at about 17:35 ET. The archive starts on Monday 26 October 2026 and gains one page per scan day.

Where does the swing scan data come from?

End-of-day Finviz screener data (the public screener; the TradingView screener stands in with the same rules when Finviz blocks the request) and daily Yahoo bars for the chart read. Research data, not trade advice.
