What the execution data shows

  • #1 ES was held 84 minutes for 0.75 points. It took 3.5 points of heat and captured 33% of its best move.
  • #2 GC captured 1.25 of a 2.95-point move on 4.15 points of heat. After the exit, gold fell another 36 points.
  • #3 NQ was the sharpest: in and out in 100 seconds for 5.5 points, a 92% capture. It still took 10.75 points of heat first, and NQ dropped another 68 points after I covered.
  • On all three trades, the heat I sat through was larger than the profit I kept.

Takeaway

The read was right on every market: the session was heading lower. The exits were early and the entries were early too, so I absorbed more drawdown than I collected. On a trend day like this one, a runner on even one contract would have turned a $384 night into something much bigger.
