Scott’s List · trading journal review

The short version. The journal I keep open all day. My trades come in from the broker, and each one is journaled before I take the next. It’s how I know which setups pay me.

Evidence level: In my stack, used daily.

What it is

TradeZella is an online trading journal. It pulls your trades in from your broker or platform, then shows you the numbers: win rate, average win and loss, and which setups and times of day make money and which don’t. You add tags, notes and screenshots to each trade. It also does backtesting, and from the Pro plan up, trade replay.

The facts at a glance

  • Three plans at the time of writing: Essential $35 a month, Pro $59, Ultra $99. Paying yearly takes off 25%: Pro works out to $44 a month, billed $531.
  • Essential connects one trading account. Pro connects up to 50, Ultra unlimited.
  • Auto-sync with Tradovate, NinjaTrader and Rithmic, among 500+ brokers and platforms. File upload or manual entry for the rest.
  • A prop-firm dashboard (PropFirm Sync) comes with every plan, for tracking progress across accounts.
  • Trade replay and the AI agents start on Pro.

Details are as published at the time of writing and change without notice. Read the current terms on the company’s own site before you pay for anything.

How it fits the VWAP Wave Systemโ„ข

The system gives every trade a name and a grade: which of the four setups it was, and whether it was an A, B or C. TradeZella is where that lives. After a few weeks the reports answer the question that matters: which setups pay me? Mine says fades and Price Discovery Continuations.

If you run several prop accounts like my wheel, check the account limit before you pick a plan. Essential connects one.

Scott’s notes

I’m a data analyst by trade. I keep TradeZella open all day because it tells me everything about my trading. You can’t manage what you don’t measure. If you’re not journaling, you don’t know what you’re doing wrong, and you’ll never fix it.

I struggled with journaling at the start of the Inner Circle. The fix was simple: I don’t take the next trade until the last one is journaled. Once you’re fast, that’s about a minute. I think a lot of people don’t journal because it’s a mirror.

I’m on Pro, paid yearly. I buy every tool on a yearly or lifetime plan when I can. Trading tools are expensive, and they need to be managed.

TradeZella is the numbers half of my journal. The other half is marking up the chart, and there are examples on How I Trade.

Verdict

In my stack, open all day, every day. If you add one tool after your charts, make it a journal. This is mine. One account: Essential is enough. Several prop accounts: Pro, and I’d pay yearly.
