Bookmap Sweeps Indicator: when one push takes out several levels

The Bookmap Sweeps Indicator marks the places where aggressive buyers or sellers took out several price levels of resting orders in a short time. You set the time window, the number of price levels and the minimum size; when traded volume across those levels beats it, a mark goes on the chart.

Absorption is a wall holding. A sweep is a wall breaking. I want to know about both, preferably before I’m on the wrong side of the second one.

Which plan: included from Global Plus, and in Global Premium.

What does the Sweeps Indicator draw?

A mark wherever a sweep happened, with buys and sells counted separately. Automatic mode works like the Absorption Indicator’s: it sets the minimum size from the standard deviation of recent volume, and a multiplier decides how many marks you get.

Sound and Telegram alerts fire when a new group of marks appears.

How I read stop sweeps and order flow at my levels

A sweep into my level from the far side is someone paying up to get in, or out, in a hurry. If the level then absorbs it, that’s the best kind of test. If the sweep goes straight through and the liquidity behind it pulls, the level is gone, and so is my setup.

Sweeps away from any level tell me about the day’s temper. They are not a trade.

I read it next to the Absorption marks. Together they answer the only question I care about at a level: did it hold?

Settings worth knowing

  • Time, price levels and size: the three numbers that define a sweep. More levels means only the violent ones count.
  • Automatic mode and the SD multiplier: same idea as Absorption; raise the multiplier until the marks are rare.
  • Buys and sells: set separately.
  • Alerts: a sound or Telegram message per new group of marks.

Questions people ask

Which Bookmap plan includes the Sweeps Indicator?

Global Plus and Global Premium.

Is a sweep the same as a stop run?

Not always. A sweep is any aggressive push that clears several levels. Stops and Icebergs identifies executed stop orders specifically, from MBO data. A stop run often shows up as a sweep; not every sweep is stops.

Can it alert me?

Yes: a sound, a Telegram message, or both.
